Mission of the Consumer – Shopper Committee

The ECR Consumer and Shopper Committee drives the agenda in Europe for Consumer and Shopper Initiatives between Manufacturers and Retailers by identifying and prioritizing projects above market level to create value for the Consumer and Shopper.

Roles of the Consumer  Shopper Committee

  • To share knowledge - notably via existing non confidential research - about the challenges originating in the economic crisis and how it has affected the mind, behaviour and basket of shoppers in Europe;
  • To review the past work of ECR Europe on shopper and consumer related topics and to recommend in which areas member companies could profitably undertake new work – either in commissioning third party research or improving relevant business practices to stimulate demand and shopper satisfaction;
  • To draft a vision for serving the European shoppers better and faster, in a more sustainable way in the next 10 years, meeting shopper and consumer desires in terms of environmental, social or economic concerns, and taking into account how the European perspective may differ from other world regions based on Europe’s population and economics"
